Currently October - Pitch Perfect Style

It's Friday night and I am curled up on the couch, watching Pitch Perfect for the first time and blogging.

Lame, perhaps.

It's been entirely too long since I have had a 'girl' night. I am not sure if it is lame or sad that my new version of girl night consists of staying in by myself and watching a girly movie but that's what happens when your best friend moves across the country. I completely blame her. Reasonable, right?

Either way I figured what better way to start my first October blog post then to link up with Farley for this month's currently.

Listening: Pitch Perfect! Not sure why I have never seen this movie before, I blame on the mister's ever changing schedule and not getting adequate girly time.

Loving: My students. I feel like I have 'end' of the semester relationships with my eighth graders, perhaps because I have had many of them for at least three or four semesters now. The fact that it is a big deal that I attended their football game and watched their touchdowns this week reminds me how important those connections can be in making the classroom run smoother. My new goal is working towards that sort of relationship with more of my seventh graders, I have decided that that is the hardest grade to connect with. Mission Accepted.

Thinking: About finding balance. I feel like my scales are constantly tipping and I haven't been able to find any sort of balance this year. If I dedicate myself to going to the gym it seems my classwork load suffers. If I dedicate myself to my classwork load, my gym time suffers. If I dedicate myself to going to the students football game then I skip gym time. If I dedicate myself to sleep then everything suffers. Anyone with the secret to balance, I would love to hear it.

Wanting: I can proudly say that I have not purchased a single non food/household item for the entire first six weeks of school. A large accomplishment in my book. But the first six weeks is over, mister please don't read this, and I want new boots like now. Fall weather might help, but whatever.

These are my front runners, go figure they are Reef brand, their shoes are straight up awesome.

Needing: Suggestions on apps for my Galaxy 4s phone. I used to have the best photo timer app on my iphone and I haven't found one I like nearly as much, thus making outfit pictures impossible, blogger problems I know. Suggestions please, what app can't you live without.

Trick or Treat:  I love all things pumpkin but in an effort to try and stay healthy this holiday season I thought I would pass on some healthy pumpkin recipes. Grain Free Pumpkin pancakes or pumpkin muffins.  Pumpkin Protein Cookies or Pumpkin Chili. I know for sure this weekend I will be making pumpkin muffins but that pumpkin chili sure does sound intriguing. Stupid Texas weather.

  1. I love Pitch Perfect! I listen to their Pandora station all the time. Hope you're able to find some balance. If you figure it out, I'd love to hear how you do it :)

  2. There is no shame in staying in to watch a movie alone. I call that a good night! And I'm obsessed with Pitch Perfect. In my family, we all mock my dad because he watches the same move about a million times, no matter how far it is into it when he finds it on the lineup. Since I discovered Pitch Perfect this summer, I am now the new mockery because I do the same thing. I just love to sing along and laugh at everything Rebel Wilson says!

  3. That movie is funn-ay, but after seeing the actress girls face I have "When I'm Gone" stuck in my head and want to go play the cup song in my classroom with my kids. Lol!

  4. Hi! Found your blog thanks to Farley's linky this month (I'm way late, I know...). I have never seen Pitch Perfect but I want to. My students tell me how hilarious it is. Loving those boots too, BTW!

    Have a great weekend!

If desired, put in a little non-fat milk or soymilk and a packet of glucose substitute (a great choice is Splenda).Mid-Morning Snack (enjoy only when hungry1 steamed 6-inches corn tortilla with fresh or grilled vegetables (such as for example onions, green bell peppers, and tomatoes) and no-added-salt salsa.Warm the tortilla between slightly moistened paper towels in the microwave for about 1 minute, then top with veggies and salsa; fold
